Celina Lerner is a PhD candidate of Human and Social Sciences at Universidade Federal do ABC, Brazil. She holds a master’s in sociology (2005) and bachelor’s in journalism (1998) from Universidade de São Paulo. Celina has been working on TV and digital media since the 1990s and is an independent documentary filmmaker and teacher of communication.
Celina joins DMRC from July to October 2017 to conduct research related to her PhD project: ‘Conservative Reaction – Analysis of Brazilian conservative thought on the Internet’. Her main focus is:
- the development of methods and tools for text mining in digital social networks, especially Facebook
- understanding cultural studies from an Australian Perspective; Collaborating with DMRC on ongoing projects
- and, the collection and analysis of social media data for her research.
