Learners and learning

In this theme, we focus on the processes of learning in formal and informal learning environments. The learners and learning theme will incorporate research about child and adult behaviours, assessing how experiences elicit change, examining psychological processes necessary for change to occur. We take the broadest definition of who learners are and where learning occurs.

In addition to classrooms at universities or schools, we examine community engagement and education, informal learning that occurs at national parks, museums, or galleries, with outcomes that range from alignment with curriculum objectives to promoting environmental citizenship or enacting land use management practice changes. In all cases, we will consider the processes of learning as well as the outcomes.
