In this theme, we focus firstly on how technology is used, or can be leveraged, for professional development of educators and teachers, and secondly on how educators and teachers adopt, create and transform digital learning to support positive and collective change.
The theme takes a broad definition of education, including formal schooling, vocational education, early childhood contexts, higher education, learning design, academic development in an overall professional development ecology. We examine both formal and informal development of professionalism amongst educators and teachers, and the longer-term impact and sustainability of technology use in professional development. In doing so, we examine the culture of educational technology-related policy and curriculum change that impacts upon educators as they navigate, analyse and understand the complex and changing landscapes of digital learning to better understand how people learn, teach and design digital learning.
