Matthew is an urbanist, passionate about ways in which cities evolve and interested in exploring what makes them ‘tick’. Having worked as an urban planner for over fifteen years, Matthew joined QUT’s Design Lab in 2018 as a part-time PhD student. His research project is focused on remote and home-based work in cities, in an attempt to formulate urban planning response accommodating work in suburbia of Australian cities, using Gold Coast as case study area. In his research, Matthew is utilising Participatory Design research methods which involve engagement with teleworkers, home-based businesses and co-working communities. Matthew is also working full-time as Principal Regional Planner at Gold Coast City Council.
