Islam is a building engineer with research interests in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Building Energy Performance Simulation and Design Optimisation. Islam has co-authored and published more than 20 papers with 60+ citations and an international design patent for a daylight device system. Islam specialises in teaching both sustainable design and design communication using state-of-the-art technologies in architecture. He held several roles as a BIM consultant for engineering and architectural firms for BIM implementation, both in Australia and overseas. And has worked in the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry as an interdisciplinary BIM coordinator, where he had experience with managing and coordinating architecture, structural and MEP design, modelling and documentation processes.
