Professor Gavin Sade is the Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) in the Creative Industries Faculty at QUT. He is responsible for leading and managing the Faculty’s teaching and learning strategy, curriculum innovation and learning design (including online), accreditation and program quality. His portfolio also includes the Bachelor of Creative Industries (BCI) program, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and Student Support. In 2019, Gavin is leading QUT’s involvement with World Science Festival Brisbane 2019.

Gavin has held a number of other leadership roles across Creative Industries Faculty, including Associate Dean (International),  acting Director, Creative Lab Research Centre in 2018 and acting Head, School of Design and Head of Interactive and Visual Design. Gavin has over 20 years of experience in learning and teaching and in that time has introduced a number of new subject areas to the University and developed new units and programs involving significant collaboration between disciplines and faculties. He led the development of the Masters of Digital Communication, the first Creative Industries’ program to be offered online, the B. Design International and introduced new double degrees between Creative Industries and Science, Engineering, Urban Development and IT.

Gavin is a designer in the field of interactive computational media with a PhD in Interactive Media Arts and Sustainability and a Bachelor of Music (Sonology). He has been creating interactive media systems and electronic art since 1990 when he began working as an electronic musician and performer. In 2003 he formed Kuuki, a creative media collective, leading the production of a number of high profile electronic artworks exhibited domestically and internationally.
