As an Industrial Designer, Anthony has led numerous advanced manufacturing projects in Australia and abroad. This includes collaborating with Milford Industries, Icarus, EGR Group & UAP. In addition to his PhD candidacy, he provides consultation services to the broader industry through Anthony Franze` Studio. Additional to this, he volunteers his time as a mentor to SEQ Energy start-ups at EnergyLab and designer for Positive Change for Marine Life (Bryon Bay). He has been awarded multiple international and national design awards, including the BMW Urban Mobility Challenge for 2025. His thesis is titled: An Extended Reality Framework to Improve Technical Design and Sustainable Work Practices in Australian Manufacturing SME’s. This PhD research is motivated by knowledge gaps in the current literature surrounding extended reality technological usage in the technical design workflows of Australian Small to Medium Enterprises (SME)’s currently transitioning to more sustainable industry 4.0. practices. It will aim to improve technical design practice through the integration of extended reality technologies, such as augmented, virtual and mixed reality to inform an implementable framework for Australian SMEs.
