Higher Degree Research Activities in 2021

WRITE NOW

Led by the School of Design Research Training Coordinator (RTC) the HDR’s Write Now event is a 1-hour weekly community group dedicated to scholarly writing. This session is provided online to allow everyone to join in, wherever they may be located.

LEARN HOW

Once a month, the Research Training Coordinator (RTC) invites a School of Design HDR Supervisor to present techniques or research methodologies. This is a hybrid presentation, both on campus and online. These sessions provide the opportunity for our HDRs to get-to-know other HDR supervisors and hear about the diverse research conducted across the different disciplines in our School.

VISUALISE YOUR THESIS TRAINING (VYT)

Visualise your Thesis (VYT) is a national competition that challenges graduate researchers to present their research in a 60 second, eye-catching digital display. This year, in collaboration with the GRE+D, we delivered a session for our Design Lab researchers. And our very own Yuanyuan (Cindy) Wei was selected finalist at the CIESJ Faculty panel.

PITCH YOUR RESEARCH! A QUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP WORKSHOP

Led in collaboration with QUT Entrepreneurship, School of Design & QUT Design Lab delivered a half-day workshop session to all HDR students developed to build capacity and broaden perspectives about the critical importance of learning how to effectively pitch research.
