As part of Carers Week, QUT Design Lab, The Ageing Revolution and Australian Association of Gerontology present

Our Care Journey: Reflections and Innovations – a symposium, exhibition and app launch.

After a welcome from Associate Professor Evonne Miller, co-founders of the Ageing Revolution Simon Lowe and Leonie Sanderson will discuss Our Care Journal – developing an app, designed with and for care givers.

Two carers, Lauren Hodges and Meredith Coyle, will share their very different personal stories of caring for family members and the importance of resilience and humour.

This will be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Emeritus Professor Linda Rosenman(Secretary, Qld Division, AAG), on current and future best practice in supporting carers. The panelists are:

  • Jayne Ryan, General Manager, Carer Services, Carers Queensland
  • Professor Lynne Parkinson, Editor in Chief, Australian Journal on Ageing; Chair, Qld AAG
  • Professor Jill Wilson, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, The University of Queensland

The event culminates with a digital exhibition and app launch, officially opened by The Honourable Coralee O’Rourke MP, Minister for Communities, and Minister for Disability Services and Seniors. Curated by A/Prof Evonne Miller, Co-Designing Care is a digital exhibition that illustrates the experience of caring and the co-design process. The Our Care Journal app development was funded through the Advancing Queensland: an age-friendly community grants 2017-2018.

The event is free, but spaces are limited. Registrations close Wednesday 10 October.
