BOOK LAUNCH ➤ How to be a Design Academic: from Learning to Leading

On behalf of QUT Design Lab, Prof. Thea Blacker hosted a book launch for “How to be a Design Academic – from Learning to Leading” on Friday, 14 May. The event showcased a publication led by Prof. Thea Blacker and Prof. Evonne Miller, which incorporated chapters authored by 28 QUT Design Lab, School of Design, and School of Architecture & Built Environment academics.

How to be Design Academic explores how to manage the various challenges, requirements, and processes that come with both the everyday and extra-ordinary parts of an academic role in design fields (from architecture, urban design, interior design and landscape architecture, to fashion, industrial, interaction and graphic design).

The event was well attended, and featured presentations by Prof. Thea Blackler, Dr. Jen Seevinck and Dr. Jane Turner, A/Prof. Marianella Chamorro-Koc and A/Prof. Glenda Caldwell, and Prof. Lisa Scharoun.

The publication is available for purchase here. The QUT Design Lab also has copies available to borrow.
