Australian universities can justifiably claim to be first in the world in dozens of highly competitive research areas, according to new analysis by data start-up League of Scholars.
Using a granular approach that zeroes in on specific subject areas, the firm finds that QUT is first in the world in four research areas including information literacy, business process management, community engagement, and urban informatics.
“It shows the areas of research in which Australia has critical mass and excellence in a competitive field,” according to Paul McCarthy, League of Scholars chief executive and co-founder.
A university is ranked first if it has more active researchers in a particular field than any other anywhere in the world.
