
Tfer Newsome is an award-winning filmmaker, sound editor, and sound teacher. She has been working as a professional sound editor and sound mixer past 20 years. She has been sharing her sound knowledge with students at the Queensland University of Technology for just as long. In the past year she was the sound mixer on a 6-part comedy set in lockdown for ABCTV, Retrograde, and the feature length documentary “Leaving Allen Street” for ABCTV Plus. Recently she completed the sound edit and mix for a Virtual Reality short film production looking at the journey of a trauma patient for the Jamison Trauma Institute based at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Tfer is also currently working on her PhD, exploring the importance of ambiences in documentary filmmaking, while continuing to teach full time.
