Vanissa has been working in health and biomedical research for several years. After obtaining her PhD in Cell and Biomolecular Science (Microbiology) at QUT in 2015, she decided to study Nursing to combine her compassionate care for the patients with her expertise in biomedical/health research. Her current role as a Senior Research Assistant at the QUT Cancer and Palliative Care Outcomes Centre involves speaking with cancer patients and their families for evaluation of the case management model of support for ovarian cancer care and screening potentially eligible patients through health records and medical information databases for a project on chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy. Vanissa is also a part of the data management team for ELDAC (End of Life Directions for Aged Care) Workstream 4 program, supporting the delivery of quality data relating to service improvement initiatives.
