Background Kim is as an Associate Professor for the School of Nursing, Queensland University of Technology and Chair of Research for Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital (HSNPH). Kim is a registered nurse with a clinical background in oncology and haematology with cross-disciplinary research experience in nursing, epidemiology, genetics, patients outcomes (i.e. cancer risk, symptom experience and quality of life) and personalised health care. Industry Research Kim is jointly appointed at the HSNPH where she leads and facilitates health research as well as the integration of contemporary evidence in clinical practice. Kim serves as Chair of HSNPH Research and Chair of the St Vincent's Health and Aged Care Human Research and Ethics Committee. She also currently serves as an analyst and medical writer for the Specialist Medical Review Council (SMRC) (an independent statutory body responsible to the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs), and supports the QUT team evaluation of the Movember Foundation Australian TrueNTH Intervention. Kim previously partnered with ICON Cancer Care and Icon Cancer Foundation on the Patient Outcome Project. The project measured specific health outcomes that matter most to patients and influenced supportive care practices for cancer patients. Project Highlights 2017-2021: A Sequential Multiple Assignment Randomised Trial (SMART) of Nursing Interventions to Reduce Pain Associated with Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy, NHMRC Project Grant. 2016: Evaluation of using technology to measure patient-reported outcomes among cancer patients, QUT IHBI Domain Seeding grant; Qld Gynaecological Cancer Initiative (QGCI), Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners Strategic Initiative Grant Scheme. 2014-2016: Predictors of symptom experience and quality of life in oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, QUT IHBI ECR Grant. 2014: A holistic approach to healing wounds: Identifying the relationships between symptom clusters, biological markers and their impact on chronic wound healing, PA Foundation Project Grant. 2013-2015: Genetic biomarkers associated with risk and quality of life in prostate cancer – Role of ethnicity, QUT IHBI Collaborative Grant. 2012-2014: Investigation of the role of genetics in Quality of Life Outcomes (QOL) in Women with Breast Cancer, Oncology Nursing Society Foundation Award. 2012: Bio-freezer for School of Nursing associated projects, QUT IHBI Major Equipment Scheme. 2011-2013: Scoping the cardiotoxities of cancer therapies, QUT IHBI MCR Grant. 2011-2013: Identifying symptom clusters in patients with chronic leg ulcers, QUT IHBI Collaborative Grant. Teaching Kim has extensive experience in teaching and coordinating units across the QUT’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Kim is the Subject Area Coordinator for Cancer Nursing within the School of Nursing and teaches the coursework component of the postgraduate and undergraduate cancer curriculum and supervises quantitative Masters and doctoral students in the field.
