Commenced: 2016
Completed: 2021
Ongoing advances in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, combined with population ageing, have resulted in continued growth in the number of prostate cancer survivors in Australia. In response to gaps in survivorship care for these men, Movember developed TrueNTH program seeking to design, implement and evaluate survivorship interventions.
The objectives of the project were to: (1) describe the nature and scope of the Programme and how it was implemented in various healthcare context; (2) evaluate the impact of the Programme on men’s health outcomes; (3) identify factors influencing the implementation of the Programme; and (4) conduct a comprehensive cost analysis of the Programme.
The project consists of two studies: feasibility study (Australia and New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry: ACTRN12615000499583) and demonstration study (ACTRN12617000174381).
Project outcomes:
This is one of the only studies that have evaluated the implementation of multicomponent survivorship interventions for men with prostate cancer and their carers. The findings of the study provide support for continuing to build on the principles and components of such model of care.
