Young people with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes (BMFS) have limited treatment options and often require extensive therapy and hospitalisation. Optimal symptom management is dependent upon accurate assessment. Despite the overwhelming evidence to support the use of patient-reported outcome measures, these resources are not well integrated or routinely used to inform clinical care in BMT services for young people.
This program of work aims to address these barriers and improve the quality of life in patients living with BMFS through the:
- development, implementation, and evaluation of resources to support best practice symptom assessment and management
- integration and evaluation of a patient-reported outcome measure in routine clinical practice in the Bone Marrow Transplantation unit
