In Australia, ovarian cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed gynaecological cancer and the most common cause of gynaecological cancer death, with a five-year survival rate of 46% for all disease stages. While it is a relatively low incidence cancer, ovarian cancer’s poor prognosis and recurrence rates of up to 70% result in significant levels of distress for affected women. Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) has established a telehealth program (Teal Support) to provide a case management model of support to improve mental health and wellbeing of affected women and their ability to self-manage cancer-specific concerns. Guided by the RE-AIM framework, we are evaluating the impact of the Program on women’s health outcomes and the factors that influence the implementation of the Program.
Project outcomes:
The findings of the evaluation will lead to further improvements in supportive care for women affected by ovarian cancer.
