Children’s Health Precinct HDR Symposium

QUT’s Paediatric Exercise and Nutrition Group was well represented at the recent Children’s Health Precinct HDR Symposium, August 29th 2019 when two of our RHD students presented their emerging research. Mr Matthew Ahmadi and Ms Andrea Fuller both gained high exposure and well received recognition for oral presentations on their establishing research to date. Matthew was awarded best Poster Pitch for his research on the ‘Evaluation of laboratory-based and free-living algorithms for energy expenditure estimation in preschool children under free-living conditions’. Andrea’s research project, ‘Development of a parenting intervention at community-based playgroups targeting obesity-related behaviours: what parents want’, continues to develop traction by supporting parents to create their own solutions for common challenges such as fussy eating and monitoring screen time.

Well done to Matthew and Andrea for sharing their work.
