Our researchers investigate matter on the nano-scale to design and engineer 2D materials that have applications in electronics, energy, environmental and sensing technologies.

Using state-of-the-art microscopy and analytical techniques, our group manipulates matter down to the atom-by-atom scale, opening up a new world of novel possibilities at the crossover of physics, chemistry and engineering.

Outcomes from the design and analysis of nanomaterials include development of new ultralight and super-strong structural composites and green energy materials. This can include:
