Role in the Centre

As a geotechnical engineer, Yilin’s research lies at geomechanics, including geomaterials characterisation and modelling, with its application in environmental and energy geotechnical engineering. Within QUT’s Centre of Materials Science, he applies advanced models and computational programs in further exploring the behaviour of geomaterials, such as soil and rock. He also has rich experience in computational modelling of dynamic effect of rock under blast and the propagation of the produced wave in fractured rock mass. Recently, he has paid special attention to the multiphase and multi-physical fields coupling effect in geotechnical engineering.

Short Biography

Yilin joined QUT in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering. He was a Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering in Newcastle University, UK, and a Research Fellow in Nanyang Technological University and Monash University. He obtained his PhD from UNSW Sydney and PG Certificate from Newcastle University, UK. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. So far, he has published more than 40 articles in journals and conferences. He has been invited to give more than 10 presentations and talks in international conferences and some prestigious universities. He is the recipient of the 2016 Best Paper Award from the Singapore Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology and is currently a Scientific Editor for the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
