A/Prof Simon McIlroy and Dr Andy Leu awarded ARC Discovery Project grant

We are thrilled to share that CMR’s Deputy Director, A/Prof Simon McIlroy, and Dr Andy Leu have been awarded an ARC Australian Research Council Discovery Project grant!

Microbial methane metabolism plays a key role in the global carbon cycle and is essential for maintaining Earth’s climate. In this Discovery project, the team aims to characterise the ecology and evolution of the anaerobic methanotrophic archaea Methanoperedenaceae, with a focus on elucidating the genetic mechanisms (e.g., mobile genetic elements) that underpin their metabolic diversity.

Congratulations to A/Prof McIlroy, Dr Leu and the rest of the research team!
