Rohan graduated from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2013 with a Bachelor of Vision Science (with Distinction) and Master of Optometry (with Distinction), and was awarded with the Optometrists Association of Australia (Queensland/Northern Territory Division) Award for clinical excellence, and the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Prize for excellence in the study of contact lenses. Rohan is proud to serve as the 2018 Vice President of Optometry Queensland/Northern Territory, and is a member of the Education and QUT Liaison committees.

From 2014 to 2016, Rohan practiced in both corporate and independent optometry practices in Perth. Returning to Brisbane, Rohan commenced a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidature in CLVOL childhood under the supervision of Dr Stephen Vincent, Associate Professor Scott Read and Professor Michael Collins, investigating the optical and structural changes during accommodation. Rohan Hughes has presented his doctorate research work at national and international conferences, and already published works in peer reviewed journals.

Rohan has recently completed his QUT PhD studies and submitted his doctorate research thesis for external examination. He is now employed as a research optometrist for a QUT clinical trial, and is also working as a sessional clinician in QUT’s Myopia Clinic, a specialist clinic within QUT’s Health Clinics.
