In 2007 Hamed Niyazmand completed a Bachelor of Optometry, at the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, in Mashhad, Iran. He has received his Master of science qualification in optometry in 2009. During and after these postgraduate studies, Hamed published several books and scientific articles. After graduation he worked in private practice for 4 years.

Hamed commenced full-time PhD degree studies at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, together with the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in Brisbane, Australia in 2016. Hamed’s doctoral research studies focused on ocular changes associated with accommodation and convergence, and are being conducted in QUT’s Contact Lens and Visual Optics Laboratory (CLVOL). His supervisors are Associate Professor Scott Read, Professor Michael Collins and Professor David Atchison. Hamed is in receipt of a full-time QUT Postgraduate Research Scholarship.

Hamed’s main research interests include: Myopia progression, corneal topography, keratoconus, paediatric ocular changes, and accommodation. In mid-2020, Hamed Niyazmand completed his PhD research studies and commenced work as a research optometrist in CLVOL.
