The ARVO Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of optometry and vision researchers, clinicians, and scientists. This year, there were more than 11,600 attendees who had the opportunity to witness poster presentations, attend scientific sessions, and listen to lectures from invited speakers.

The QUT Contact lens and Visual Optics Laboratory (CLVOL) was well-represented in Seattle, Washington in May, with innovative research presented at the meeting by Professor Michael Collins, Professor Scott Read, and Dr Emily Woodman-Pieterse. Whilst Dr Hosein Hoseini-Yazdi was unable to attend the meeting in-person, his research was well-received after being presented at a Poster Session by Professor Scott Read.

Associate Professor Ranjay Chakraborty (former PhD Student who completed his HDR research with QUT’s CLVOL team) welcomed the opportunity to meet and catch-up with his PhD supervisors: Professor Scott Read and Professor Michael Collins, at the 2024 ARVO Meeting. Aspro Ranjay Chakraborty is now a senior researcher and lead educator in Optometry and Vision Science at Flinders University (FU), in South Australia. Prof Collins, Prof Read and Dr Woodman-Pieterse have been fortunate to share similar myopia research interests with Aspro Chakraborty, and their research collaborations continue.
