Polish PhD students, Marcela Niemczyk and Dominika Sulot, along with German undergraduate optometry students, Lea Schneider and Maria Zinser, are currently visiting QUT CLVOL at Kelvin Grove, in Brisbane, Australia. The recent celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2020 was particularly pertinent with the recent arrival of the four international women to the lab.

The 2020 campaign theme #EachforEqual resonated with these 4 women as well as other female members of the lab. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of all women, whilst also embracing the opportunity to promote gender equality.

Marcela and Dominika are completing important aspects of their PhD research at the lab and arrived from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland in February. Both women are completing their software engineering research under the guidance and supervision of Dr David Alonso-Caneiro for a 3 month internship period.

Lea and Maria arrived from the University of Aalen, Germany, also in February, and are participating in student learning activities, tutorials and other enrichment opportunities alongside QUT Optometry Students.
