Urban Environment for Ageing
Program Synopsis
This research program aims to understand and create an age-friendly urban environment that supports and values older people. The program not only develops innovative solutions for senior living environment, including both built and social environment, but also disseminates and transfers the innovation into industry practices and government policies, thus creating value for senior and our society. To develop age-friendly urban environment for senior living, the projects in this research program covers the diversified areas of planning, design, construction, facilities management, transportation, property economics, engineering, social science, and management. The research program covers, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Interaction of built and social environment for ageing in place
- Smart retrofitting for ageing at home
- Reconceptualising retirement villages for older Australians
- Naturally occurring retirement communities
- Facilities management in aged care facilities
- Age-friendly cities and communities rankings
- Online community and neighbourhood for seniors
- Fall prevention for older Australians
