Project Title:
The Impact of Urban Vertical Schools on Students’ Capability and Wellbeing
Project Type:
Australian Research Council Linkage Project (LP200301274)
Funding Body:
Australian Research Council
Project Timeframe:
2022-2024
Project Synopsis:
A growing urban population and shortage of land is compelling Australian education providers to invest millions of dollars in a new typology for school design – the vertical school. Responding to the absence of evidence-based Australian precedents to guide architects and educators in designing these schools, this project involves students, educators, and designers in collaboratively exploring the personal, social, and environmental conditions necessary to support student wellbeing and capability. Project findings will inform design and education principles and evaluation methods to enable knowledge sharing between educational leaders, architects, builders, designers, and governments.
