Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a real-world focus. The Agrifood Systems Program at the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy delivers multidisciplinary research at the interface of science, society and business. Food and agriculture are embedded in broader social, environmental and economic systems and innovative solutions for our agrifood systems must align with the aspirations of society and business more broadly to succeed. Through the collaborative expertise of social and natural sciences, we deliver robust research across the entire agrifood system, tackling environmental sustainability, food waste and food insecurity.

Food Agility CRC invests in world-leading research that is changing the way we produce, supply and consume food. Together with their partners, they create new data-driven technology for the agrifood industry using artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, sensors, advanced data analytics and more. Their partnership network spans the Australian agrifood and agtech industries and includes eight leading universities. They are funded by our partners and by the Australian Government through its CRC Program.

Yarrabilba State Secondary College is a dynamic, future-focused learning community, committed to empowering their students to succeed. Yarrabilba State Secondary College has chosen to deliver the Australian Curriculum in a non-traditional way, following the belief that a non-traditional teaching and learning model better prepares diverse learners for 21st Century leaning and life. By combining the model of project-based learning, entrepreneurship, outdoor and hands on learning, the College hopes to produce graduates who go on to live lives of choice, not lives of chance.

The College recognises not only the importance of achieving academic excellence, but also of supporting and challenging young people’s opinions, promoting independence, understanding both local and global diversity, and nurture a culture of kindness, compassion and resilience.

We would like to express our very special thanks and appreciation to the Principal Mrs Belinda Tregea, and the Circular Food Economy champions at Yarrabilba state secondary college, Department Heads Mr Chris Gauthier and Mr James Wendt. Substation33 is a YFS social enterprise based in the Logan suburb of Kingston. Substation33 opened its doors in January 2013 as an electronic waste recycling centre, providing a workplace where volunteers and employees gain confidence and skills for the transition to sustainable employment. Its purpose is to provide training and employment opportunities through the recycling of electronic waste.

More recently, Substation33 has started an Innovation Lab and has designed and developed a number of products for commercial, social and educational purposes. These projects provide an opportunity for up-cycling and e-waste diversion from land-fill, which has environmental benefits, and skills development and transfer between professional mentors and volunteers, students and people seeking to return to the workforce, which provides social and economic benefits to the community.

Our goal as a video production company is to provide a service that leaves a lasting impact and connects on a deep human level. It’s through our hardest times that we cultivate the most inspiring stories, filmmaking is our avenue to share your truth to the world.

The Good Foundation

…was established in 2010 by successful businessman Andrew Muir, The Good Foundation brings top chef Jamie Oliver’s food education program to Australia. Research has shown that when people are empowered through education about how to cook healthy and nutritious meals at home, they can convert from a dependence on processed foods to cooking from scratch, also resulting in them buying and consuming more vegetables.

Below are some photos taken during the “shoot day” for the time lapse video, with Dr Sue Pillans (visual artist) and Phillip Stanojcic (cinematographer and editor).
