Dr Yaoqin Hong

    Postdoctoral Fellow

    B. Sc (Molecular Biotechnology) 1st Class Honours from the University of Sydney (2009)

PhD from the University of Sydney (2014)

Yaoqin joined the lab of Associate Professor Makrina Totsika, at the Queensland University of Technology in 2018. He is interested in understanding bacterial pathogenesis and virulence.

Yaoqin graduated with a Science degree in Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Sydney (2009). He then obtained his PhD with Professor Peter Reeves (2014), studying the genetic basis of the diversity of O-antigen, one of the major antigen produced by most important Gram-negative pathogens. Yaoqin undertook a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Professor John Cronan at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Here is worked to decipher the biology of fatty acid and fatty acid derived small molecule synthesis (2014-2016).
