CIIC Consumer Advisory Group
The QUT Centre for Immunology and Infection Control (CIIC) is currently establishing a CIIC Consumer Advisory Group to aid the planning and development of their research.
CIIC is seeking both consumers with lived experience, and those with a professional clinical/health background who have an interest in our centre’s research, to be an active member of this group.
Please note: CIIC research is primarily focused on discovery and molecular science, however a high level of scientific knowledge is not a pre-requisite for members of the CIIC Consumer Advisory Group.
CIIC is looking to engage with those who have an interest in one or more of our main research areas.
Specific topics of current CIIC research include:
- Anti-microbial resistance (in hospital and healthcare settings) including new and alternative therapies
- Respiratory health conditions including those caused by viruses (such as RSV and flu), allergies and bacterial infections (such as TB).
- Neurological effects and complications of infection
- Chronic health conditions including asthma, COPD, ankylosing spondylitis, scleroderma.
- Reproductive health including endometriosis, STIs
- New treatment technologies, vaccines and drug delivery systems
- Climate and ecosystem change in terms of public health and preparedness for emerging infectious diseases including mosquito-borne viruses
What would this opportunity involve?
Initially those submitting an EOI would be invited to attend an afternoon tea event at CIIC to meet our researchers and find out more about specific areas of our work. Ongoing, the consumer group would attend quarterly meetings and have opportunities to contribute to specific CIIC research projects throughout the year as required.
What are the aims of this partnership?
The CIIC Consumer Advisory Group will enable CIIC to ensure that formal consultation with consumers is considered in CIIC research planning, co-design and development of current and future research projects. By joining the CIIC Consumer Advisory Group, consumer voices can bring valuable input and shape future treatment and health outcomes.
Renumeration
Members of the CIIC Consumer Advisory Group will receive renumeration of their time.
Next Step
If you are a consumer representative and would like to attend the initial CIIC consumer research event, please contact us by submitting an expression of interest by emailing
Please state on your EOI if there is a particular research topic from the list in which you are interested.
