The Guidance Counsellor's role regarding Trauma-Aware Schooling in Brisbane Catholic Education Schools

Trauma-aware practice in education settings is relatively new in Australia and the role of the Guidance Counsellor is not always uniformly defined or applied.  In response, this project has been developed as a collaboration between Brisbane Catholic Education and the Queensland University of Technology to explore the Guidance Counsellor’s role regarding trauma-aware education. The project was designed to identify the various types of work that could be considered part of the role of school Guidance Counsellors, provide insight into types of work that are more or less prioritised by Guidance Counsellors, and draw from the insights of Guidance Counsellors to develop resources to support the role of these practitioners in trauma-aware schooling in Brisbane Catholic Education schools.
