The Metropolitan Region of the Queensland Department of Education (DoE) is engaging in a project designed to develop a Community of Practice (COP) amongst schools to instigate and enhance trauma-aware schooling practice within the Region.
The research team aims to gather and analyse data to evaluate this project and to seek answers to the following research questions.
- What impact did the trauma-aware education community of practice project have on the development of:
- perceived knowledge, confidence and skills of participants for working in a trauma-aware manner when educating and supporting students?
- perceived personal and professional wellbeing of school personnel when working with students who are living with the outcomes of complex trauma?
- What whole-school professional growth has occurred and what further work is recommended to continue professional growth in this area?
