Evaluation of Department of Education (Queensland) Metropolitan Region Trauma-Aware Community of Practice Project

The Metropolitan Region of the Queensland Department of Education (DoE) is engaging in a project designed to develop a Community of Practice (COP) amongst schools to instigate and enhance trauma-aware schooling practice within the Region.

The research team aims to gather and analyse data to evaluate this project and to seek answers to the following research questions.

  1. What impact did the trauma-aware education community of practice project have on the development of:
    • perceived knowledge, confidence and skills of participants for working in a trauma-aware manner when educating and supporting students?
    • perceived personal and professional wellbeing of school personnel when working with students who are living with the outcomes of complex trauma?
  2. What whole-school professional growth has occurred and what further work is recommended to continue professional growth in this area?
