Project title
Investigating Heritable Stroke Genes in Migraine and Migraine Related Disorders
Supervisory Team
Principal Supervisor: Distinguished Professor Lyn Griffiths
Associate Supervisors: Dr Robert Smith, Dr Neven Maksemous
Project description
The aim of project is to identify potentially causative stroke related migraine gene/s among migraine-stroke pedigrees. This project involves WES on migraine-stroke related families, RStudio and Plink analysis to identify all rare and novel variants , Sequenom assay to perform MALDI-TOF based genotyping of the key variants and finally the functional effects of identified variants will be assessed.
Short Biography
Zizi joined the Genomics Research Centre in 2018 on a voluntary basis to expand on her existing skills with advanced molecular diagnostic testing and to gain experience with next generation sequencing techniques. In 2019 she started studying master of diagnostic genomics. After completion of her master’s degree, Zizi enrolled as a PhD candidate and started in February 2021. In addition to her PhD project, she is a member of our diagnostics team tasked with the administrative processes and sample processing.
