Project title

Investigating DNA repair mechanisms in ageing adult stem cells

Supervisory Team

Principal Supervisor: Professor Derek Richard
Associate Supervisor: Dr Karsten Schrobback

Project description

Tom is investigating how ageing and differentiation status affects DNA repair mechanisms in mesenchymal stem/stromal cells.

Short Biography

Tom is a master’s student interested in exploring the link between ageing and DNA repair. Currently his research is focused on studying how mesenchymal stromal cells from young and aged people differ in their response to various types of DNA damage. With this research, Tom hopes to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of ageing and potentially identify therapeutic targets to mitigate the ageing process.
