Project title
Functional Association of Micrornas with Molecular Subtypes of Breast Cancer
Supervisory Team
Principal Supervisor: Professor Lyn Griffiths
Associate Supervisors: Associate Professor Larisa Haupt, Dr Rachel Okolicsanyi
Project description
Km Taufiqul’s research focus is to discover the association of microRNA polymorphism with breast cancer among Australian Caucasian women, in silico identification of microRNA-targets, and validation using in vitro and in situ models. He is incorporating experimental (Genetics, Genomics and Molecular Biology) data to investigate miRNAs with diagnostic and therapeutic potential for breast cancer.
Short Biography
Km Taufiqul is a final year PhD candidate (thesis submitted) in the Genomics Research Centre (GRC), Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI) at QUT, working under the supervision of Professor Lyn Griffiths and Associate Professor Larisa Haupt.
Km Taufiqul completed his MS and BSc in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from Khulna University, Bangladesh, with a focus on pharmacological/anti-bacterial/anti-diabetic properties of selective edible mangrove plants. He worked as a Research Assistant at Chemical Kinomics Research Centre in Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), South Korea, focusing on anti-inflammatory property of LCB-0110 a DDR1/DDR2 Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor in a range of disease models (e.g., Atopic Dermatitis, Atherosclerosis, Sepsis, Liver Cirrhosis and Dry Eye Syndrome) in vitro and in vivo.
