Hitesh Ugaram Kore

PhD Candidate

Project title

Protein coding potential of annotated non-coding RNAs encoded by the human genome

Supervisory Team

Principal Supervisor: Adjunct Associate Professor Harsha Gowda
Associate Supervisor: Dr Shivashankar Hiriyur Nagaraj

Project description

Hitesh’s research focuses on identifying novel protein-coding regions in the human genome using computational approach. This predominantly includes regions that encode for non-coding RNAs. He is employing a systematic approach to understand the genomic signatures associated with these regions and identifying their expression at the transcript, translation and protein level.

Short biography

Hitesh has four years of experience working as a computational biologist in academia and industry, which helped him forge expertise in genomics, cancer informatics and developing bioinformatics solutions for complex biological problems. Before commencing his PhD, he worked as a research associate in the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer, India. His research focuses on using multi-omics approaches to understand the complexity of the human genome and gain more insights into molecular mechanisms underlying various diseases.
