Risk and Trust: A Tale of Two Perspectives
In business, risk and trust are inextricably entangled, both for the company and the customer.
You could certainly argue, for example, that losing trust is one of the biggest risks any organisation can face, for a whole host of reasons. But although the inputs into and implications of trusted relationships are different for both parties, and the appetite for risk greatly variable between organisations and amongst groups of individuals, being proactive in managing the interplay between these factors has the capacity to bring about mutual benefit.
In this session, we’ll explore how better understanding the relationship between risk and trust from both sides of the company and customer fence can help harness opportunities and minimise threats ongoing.

Neil Terry and Jay Tinkler are the co-founders of strategic “more-human marketing” consultancy Remarkably and private business network Convoy Collective. A shared passion for behavioural science, community and brand experience, plus some homeschooled kids, brought the pair together, and their overarching professional goal has become to explore the intersection between impact, culture and marketing in ways which are both valuable and viable.
Remarkably focuses on fast-tracking understanding of an organisation’s customers, offering, people and intent, via deep-listening and insight generation which allows compounding marketing, sales, advocacy and experience strategies to be synthesised. The company has collaborated on projects for a diverse set of clients including Qantas, Pernod-Ricard, PartnerHero, Street Science, Hologic, 3rdView Consulting, and the Cleaning Accountability Framework. The Remarkable Project, their regular Podcast, interviews experts, authors, scientists and thought-leaders from around the world in an attempt to answer the question “how do you build a business that people feel compelled to talk about?”
Convoy Collective is focused on driving quality connections, fresh knowledge and unique opportunities for SMEs who want to grow, but are open to different ways of thinking about and doing business to enable that. The network supports curious founders and leaders, by using a curated online/offline environment of events, resources and conversations to put high-trust human-connection and collaboration ahead of transactional selling in the pursuit of long-term profitable partnerships.
