Cisco partnership

We at Centre for Future Enterprise have scaled our partnership with Cisco to secure a three year research program, valued at $2million in cash plus up to $1million in technology. This is part of Cisco’s $61million Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) university-industry partnership program. QUT is the only Queensland university and joins a national network of innovation research partners from Curtain, La Trobe, Flinders and UNSW, plus 13 cities around the world. You can read more about Cisco’s CDA and Co-Innovation Centres here.

The partnership will provide for:

  • Cisco Chair in Trusted Retail and Logistics Innovation, who will be recruited later this year
  • 1 Post doc
  • 2 PhD Scholarships
  • A dedicated innovation hub on campus called Innovation Central Brisbane (ICB) where our students and reseachers will work with industry to develop proof of concept technology solutions to their industry opportunities.
  • Cisco-funded Partnership Director to lead the partnership and ICB

The Cisco/QUT partnership has been led by Prof Michael Rosemann and Gemma Alker over the past three years, the scaling up is exciting as it unlocks many opportunities for QUT staff, students, alumni and partners. The research will explore Trusted Retail and Logistics Innovation, designing new trust management strategies and business models for industry. The engagement model is quite unique for industry partners and will continue to expand during the life of the partnership to involve multiple industry third party partners, students and researchers. The partnership will be officially launched later this year followed by the establishment of the innovation hub on campus.
