Associate Professor Deanna Grant-Smith, together with Dr Laura de Zwaan from the School of Accountancy at Griffith University, have published an article in The Conversation on multi-level marketing (MLM) schemes.
Multi-level marketing (MLM) is a business model that relies on direct selling and consultants recruiting friends and relatives to also become consultants, salespeople, or distributors.
MLMs promise financial independence, flexibility, and work-life balance. However, it’s been widely reported that very few MLM sellers make any profit. Together with CDWI members Alicia Feldman and Dr Bernd Irmer, Deanna and Laura surveyed 287 current and former MLM consultants in Australia to find out more.
You can read about this research, and some questions to ask yourself before joining an MLM, in the article in The Conversation.
