The project
Phase I of the Leading Inclusive Education Reform project sought to develop the capability of system and school leaders in the Department of Education Central Queensland Region to lead implementation of inclusive education in their contexts.
Aims
The three aims within Phase I were to:
- co-design an action research project with the Central QLD Region Education Leadership Team (ELT),
- design and facilitate a program of professional learning for regional and school leaders to improve their knowledge of and capability to lead systemic inclusive education reform, and
- investigate whether the program of learning leads to changes in understanding of and beliefs about genuine inclusion for regional leaders, school principals and regional support staff.
Research question
This research addressed one overarching research question:
What changes in knowledge, beliefs, and understanding are achieved when regional leaders, principals, and regional support staff engage in a program of learning focused on inclusion and inclusive school leadership?
Funding / Grants
This research was commissioned by the Regional Director, Central Queensland Region, Queensland Department of Education.
