
A/Prof Theresa Bourke is a Program Co-Leader in The Centre for Inclusive Education at QUT. Her research focuses on preparing pre-service teachers to work with students from diverse backgrounds, students with a disability, and those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. She is currently a CI on an externally funded ARC Discovery project which investigates how teacher educators prepare their pre-service teacher cohorts to be able to teach about/to and for diversity in their future classrooms. Theresa has held various leadership positions at QUT including Academic Lead Research (ALR) and Academic Program Director (APD). As APD, it was her responsibility to ensure that inclusive education was effectively implemented across under and post graduate initial teacher education programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers related to inclusive education. Theresa has many Q1 publications from the ARC grant including a systematic review of literature about diversity published in Review of Educational Research, the highest ranked education journal globally.
