Systems design, integration and optimisation

Program mission

System design, integration and optimisation plays a critical role in ensuring industry take-up of emerging clean energy technologies. Through sensing, monitoring, optimising safety, analysing data and understanding system performance, our research helps to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of these technologies, enhancing their acceptance and application.

QUT researchers have a strong background in systems design, taking research innovation from the lab scale to pilot scale in a range of energy applications from solar cells to hydrogen production plants. We have designed systems for a range of industrial partners including Sumitomo Electric and Lava Blue.  

QUT has strengths in artificial intelligence, machine learning and the application of Industry 4.0 technologies to push the boundaries of what is possible.
