Taking research out of the laboratory brings new challenges. Growing energy projects from milliwatts to megawatts often means developing new procedures and technologies as the scale can significantly affect the scientific process. Our program helps bring ideas to life by building pilot plants, scaling up technologies and managing physical infrastructure so that QUT’s cutting-edge renewable energy research can be taken beyond the lab and engineered into the real world. Our work encompasses:
- advancing lab-based research methods by developing predictable and repeatable processes that yield consistent products and results at larger scales.
- pilot plant development, with a focus on end-to-end, engineered process design that produces safe and reliable technologies which can be used on a long-term industrial scale.
