- Mid-Career Advanced Queensland Fellowship (2016-2019):Title: Maximising renewable energy penetration through smart inverter deployment and control.Abstract: This research investigates the optimum sizing, placement and control of single-phase dSTATCOMs into the electricity distribution network to enable higher penetration of renewable energy sources in Queensland. It helps build capacity of local manufacturers to deliver cost-effective solutions to address the technical challenges faced by Queensland distribution network service providers (DNSPs) in integrating renewable energy and supporting technologies (energy storage, electric vehicles etc.) into ageing distribution networks, whilst maintaining and improving quality of supply. The project seeks to not only further develop dSTATCOM technologies for power quality support, but to additionally provide a concrete value proposition for DNSPs to adopt these emerging technologies into their networks.
