PhD (Queensland University of Technology)

Research Discipline

  • Chemistry

Areas of Expertise

  • Synthetic Polymer Chemistry
  • Free Radical Chemistry
  • Photochemistry

Research Area My research program to date has been underpinned by a strong background in both synthetic and physical polymer  and radical chemistry. I have particular expertise in the field of macromolecular chemistry where light is utilized both as a reporter and stimulus. These projects have included the monitoring of radical degradation of polymers via oxidative pathways through fluorescence and chemiluminescence, synthesis of complex macromolecular structure using photo-triggered cycloadditions, and light driven controlled radical polymerisation. Selected Research Projects

  • Photo-triggered Orthogonal Modification of Polymers and Surfaces
  • Modification of Carbon Surfaces with Polymers and Electro-active Materials
  • Thermal, pH, Redox and Radical Sensitive Fluorescent Macromolecules
  • Nanosensors for drug delivery and imaging
  • Photosensitive Alkoxyamines for Nitroxide Mediated Photo-Polymerisation
