Early Childhood Education for Sustainability (ECEfS) explores environmental, social, political and economic topics and issues and how these are, and can be, played out in early childhood education. In the last decade, ECEfS has become a flourishing area of research activity that goes from strength to strength, and academics at QUT are recognized as world leaders. Not only do these researchers conduct research, they also produce a wide range of publications – peer-reviewed, for the professional field of early childhood educators, and for the wider community. Over the years, researchers have supervised a number of Masters and Doctoral candidates to completion whose focus has been Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability in early childhood. Topics include leadership and ECEfS in long day care, curriculum policy analysis related to ECEfS, and listening to what young children say about environmental and sustainability topics.
