Young children have increasing access to mobile Internet-connected mobile technologies. Despite cautions about online use, parents and teachers are embracing these technologies with young children. This project seeks to understand how young children access and use online mobile technologies for learning and play in home, preschool and community contexts. Based on longitudinal case studies of young children’s everyday practices, it provides empirical evidence to inform policy development about online use in the early years and to support early childhood educators and families. Young children with access to smart technologies may have improved opportunities for friendships, play and learning.
