In this project, a new early literacy app targeted to children aged 2 to 7 years is evaluated through a quasi-experimental design. The app aims to provide an interactive, educational, and intuitive reading experience. Families in two kindergarten classes are provided with the app and asked to use it at least three times per week, while children in another two classes are provided with the hard copy version of books found in the app. Pre and post measures include: time spent reading; and expressive and receptive vocabulary for children. A concurrent qualitative component investigates the parent-perceived affordances of the app and their approaches to using it.
