Prof Shaun Gregory is the Director of the QUT Centre for Biomedical Technologies, Co-Director of the Artificial Heart Frontiers Program, Founder and Director of the Heart Hackathon student team competition, Director of the CardioRespiratory Engineering and Technology Laboratory, and President-Elect of the International Society for Mechanical Circulatory Support. He holds both NHMRC and Heart Foundation fellowships. Previously, Prof Gregory has held positions at Monash University, the University of Queensland, Griffith University, and in industry as a part-time Chief Technology Officer. He was awarded his Bachelor, Masters (research), and PhD degrees by QUT.
Prof Gregory’s research applies a translational approach to cardiovascular engineering with a particular focus on devices used to support or replace the heart. To achieve this, he brings together multidisciplinary teams of engineering, biomedical science, design, and medicine to develop novel, technical solutions for clinically relevant problems. His research has changed clinical practice on numerous occasions and assisted with the regulatory approval of medical devices. Prof Gregory has published more than 100 research articles in his field and received more than $65 million in research funding.
