Currently Dr Zamboni is a postdoctoral research fellow at Queensland University of Technology. She graduated in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and then moved to Ireland to pursue a M.Sc degree in Biomedical Device Materials at the University of Limerick. She was awarded the highly competitive Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship and graduated with a First-Class Honour’s degree. In 2021, Dr Zamboni obtained her doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Limerick. During her doctoral studies, Fernanda was awarded the Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship and the ERASMUS+ Traineeship mobility grant, which allowed her to conducted part of her Ph.D. project in collaboration with the I3B’s Research Group (Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics) at the University of Minho, Portugal. In 2021, Dr Zamboni was awarded the prestigious Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship for the period of 2 years. During her postdoctoral project, she spent one year abroad, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, working at the Department of Chemical Pathology at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
As a result of Dr Zamboni’s work, she has published 4 book chapters, 19 research articles, and has been cited over 600 times, conferring a H-index of 14. Dr Zamboni has peer-reviewed articles for the Journal of Biological Macromolecules and the journal Current Research in Translational Medicine. She has also participated in several, national and international research events, accounting for 39 conference abstracts, and 2 prizes.
